Shhh.... don't tell Little Lady but I finished some of her Christmas gifts already!
She loves finger puppets like the monkey and alligator set I made earlier this year. She carries them around all the time and holds out her sweet little finger for us to put a puppet on.
With that love in mind, I set out to make some sensory finger puppets for her.
Here is the jungle set:
It includes a monkey with a bumpy (burlap) nose, a lion with a fuzzy (yarn) mane, a bright bird with a silky (satin from my bridesmaid's dresses!) breast, an elephant with a rough (vinyl) trunk, and a giraffe with fuzzy (chenille stem) horns. (Are they called horns, after all?)
Here is the barn animal set:
It includes a horse with a lovely mane (craft hair), a pig with a round snout (button), a cow with many spots (heavy vinyl), a rooster with a silly beak (craft foam), and a sheep with soft wool (fluffy, white fabric).
I know Little Lady will really love these.

Those are adorable. My 3-year-old currently loves singing Old McDonald--how perfect!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute! I'm sure she'll love them. My son would! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThey are so simple and look easy to make. Did you use a template or a pattern to create the animals? Gotta make us some - they would be great for travel toys. Found you through It's Playtime.
ReplyDeleteI did not use a template or a pattern. I just looked at some photos of other animal finger puppets and hand puppets online to get some ideas.
ReplyDeleteMy 13 month old would love these! Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute! We have a book that had puppets and we're missing a cat...I could totally make one like this! I would love for you to link up to my new linky party -

They are absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Quick question about the eyes. We have made tons of finger puppets, but I struggle with what to do on the eyes. We just use fabric paint. Are your eyes buttons? How do they stay on? I think every family should have puppets in their houses! I even have a post coming up on Wed. with a video tutorial (and my kids sewing) for making bird finger puppets!
ReplyDelete@Amanda: They are googly eyes hot glued on. I keep a close eye on Little Lady when she uses them. While she loves putting lots of things in her mouth, she hasn't yet tried to gnaw the eyes off!
ReplyDeleteThat tutorial sounds great - I'll check it out!
These are SOOOO cute! I love the barn yard set and the googly eyes, they are always such a hit! Thanks for showing off, I am excited to explore your blog more!
