Take a look at other fun activities we've done with color pails:
Red color pail fun
Green color pail fun
Blue color pail fun
ORANGE DROP
This is a stolen idea from one of my favorite blogs (here). First, we colored a paper towel tube orange. Little Lady insisted on holding it as she colored.
(Why, oh, why do my images keep turning sideways?)
I taped it to the leg of our train table and selected a pile of things for Little Lady to drop down the tube.
The chicken leg fits!
Once she got bored with my pre-selected pile of orange things to drop, I put all our orange items back in the pail and we did a little "experiment" to see what would fit and what wouldn't.
Not surprisingly, Mini Me had fun with this, too, and the tube stayed taped to the train table until it got good and battered.
ORANGE PUMPKIN TREATS
I saw the idea for these crispy rice pumpkin treats here and thought it would be fun for Little Lady to help make (and eat!). We used pretzels for the stem and they were cute as could be, especially served in a little "dirt".
ORANGE PLAY DOUGH
I love the edible play dough recipe I have (read about it here). I threw out our batches from last spring long ago, so it was time to make new.
I started with all my supplies measured and ready so it was easy for toddler hands to help.
She dumped very well.
She stirred like a pro!
She played joyfully. The play dough worked well to make our pumpkin faces, and it smelled good, too!
ORANGE BODY SONG
One day the kids and I had fun with the items in our orange pail as I made up a silly song and we practiced locating body parts. I would sing something like, "Put the orange on your leg, leg, leg" and with an orange item in hand, they would touch it to their leg. We giggled a little and I was impressed at the many body parts Little Lady could identify - even cheeks, knee, and chin among more common ones! I did have to sing pretty slowly for her to keep up. I could just see her processing the information in her brain and then doing the action. Between both kids, there was a lot of concentration going on!
ORANGE SHAPE FILL
This little activity came on a whim one day as Little Lady and I were scribbling on the train table. I simply drew some shapes and asked her to put the orange items in each shape. I narrated as she worked: "Good job putting the orange block on the square!" We did a few rounds.

ORANGE MUFFIN TIN SORT
I sat with Little Lady and we sorted the orange pail objects into our muffin tins. For a more challenging twist, I helped her sort the squishy orange objects to one side and the hard orange objects to the other side. I think this activity was a little "Mommy heavy" so we'll try again when she's a bit older.

Your orange activities look so fun! I'll be doing that first activity for sure--I know my boys will love it. And my mom used to make peanut butter play dough when I was a kid. It was one of my favorite things. :)
