A year of ABCs: B with art, literacy, math

Our B pail:
Books
Ball

B foam letter
Banana

B is for bead butterflies.
We used sparkly beads strung onto chenille stems to make a butterfly.  I put my hands over Little Lady's and helped her string the beads, then she slid them down the stem.  Her fine motor skills have always been impressive and darned if she didn't nearly string a bead all by herself!

We used a lot of "B" words in this activity: bead, butterfly, bend and blue.

B is for Big Red Barn.
Ah, my husband and I can both nearly recite this from memory we've read it so much.  We made sure to read it a lot during B week and talk about that lovely big barn.  I also found a fun book about bubbles that we put in the nightstand book pile, too.  B is an easy and fun letter to work with!

B is for b-sort in muffin tins.
We used our much-loved muffin tins to sort some items from our B pail.  The balls went in one group and the non-balls went in the other group.  On the floor are the books because they just wouldn't fit in the muffin cups!

We also sorted blue blocks and cars.  I did it once to show Little Lady and after that, she was zipping through it on her own as I narrated.  We did it again and again!  When she decided she was done, she gathered the muffin tins and put them in the cupboard... all on her own.  That's my girl.  ha ha
More B activities are coming soon!
