Alongside the fun and unique shrinky things you can make with recycled #6 plastic, you can also purchase Shrinky Dinks brand photo paper and shrink any digital photos or images you have. This stuff is awesome and not too expensive!
I shrank some photos of the kiddos first. The package has clear and easy instructions including how you must lighten your photos first because when they shrink, all the colors intensify. I think I lightened my photos out too much this time, but I still love how they turned out in the end.
Here is a before shrinkage and after shrinkage photo:
Take a look at the wild-and-crazy shrinking going on in the oven! My apologies for a shaky video... it's a bit difficult to get a video camera in a hot oven while still trying to keep the door mostly closed.
Could you see the regular plastic one I snuck in this bunch curling and bending like crazy on the back of the pan?
They turned out so tiny:
What can you do with all these shrinky things? Well, with either your hand-drawn ones from #6 plastic or the photo ones you could make...
elastic book marks
zipper pulls
buttons
cell phone charms
purse or backpack charms
name tags
rearview mirror hangers/charms
rings
jewelry charms (bracelets or necklaces or earrings)
keychains
guitar picks
These things are so fun to make and are pretty indestructible once they are baked. They are inexpensive and easy to personalize. I love them!
What will you make with shrinky things?
