A Year of ABCs: D with movement, music, science, Spanish

D is for dancing and drumming.
As I've said before, rare is the day we go without music, singing, and dancing at our house.  For D week, however, I made a point to turn

on some really great dancin' music to have a big dance party.  I found a fun salsa station on Pandora and we got out our dancin' rings.  Little Lady (and even Mommy) danced and twirled and shook and sang.  !When the dancin' rings got old, we found drums to aid our dance party.  A bailar!

D is for Diez Deditos.
We sang this song many times and did the actions.  Our José Luis Orozco CD has the English version, too.
Uno, dos, tres deditos
Cuatro, cinco, seis deditos
Siete, ocho, diez deditos
Y uno más son diez.
Dos manitas, diez deditos,
Dos manitas, diez deditos,
Dos manitas, diez deditos,
Cuéntalos conmigo

D is for discovery bottle.
Once upon a time I attempted our first discovery bottles and they didn't turn out quite as I envisioned.  This time was a bit better but the end product was just not what I had in mind.  We filled a wine spit with oil, colored water, and glitter.  Little Lady helped.  She is a great kitchen helper just like her big bro.
We started with yellow water and Little Lady also wanted to add some blue, so we ended up with a lovely Shamrock green bottle!  I thought the oil and water would separate more... maybe it is the color?  Even if it didn't live up to my expectations, Little Lady (and Mini Me, of course) love it!
Due to a bottle leak, I had to re-make the discovery bottle one night.  This time I used water and baby oil gel and I think it turned out much more fun to shake and observe.

D is for dedo.
Little Lady loves to wiggle her fingers so it was easy to work dedo into our vocabulary while she does that and points to everything with her little dedos.
